You know how some artists buy the rights of songs written by older artists so they can make some one else's song their own.
Well one of Disturb's latest song
"Land of Confusion" seems to be one of them.
Here's one version by Genesis that looks like it was done in the 80's but it sounds like Distrub's lead singer.

and here is Disturb's much better sounding version

each have the EXACT same lyrics and sounds like it's done by the same singer

I remember when the first one came out... some time mid to late 1980s. If it's the video I remember from back then (I'm on dial up so can't watch the actual clip shown here) then the puppets were from a British TV show called "Spitting Image". It was mostly a political / current events satire back in the days of Margaret Thatcher / Ronald Reagan.
It used to be quite common, indeed almost "normal" for most performers to perform other people's songs... It wasn't until the mid to late 1960s that it became customary for performers to record their own work. A lot of 1960s performers ended up with little or no money to show for their success... their record companies employed songwriters and held on to most of the royalties from the sales. Even groups like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones recorded cover versions.
As for the videos... puts on his Old Grouch hat... things seemed to tail off about ten years ago as far as video making went. Most of the recent stuff I've seen is all quick cutting and odd camera angles... not a patch on the stuff I remember when I was young...

The first one was far more original ( the video ) Disturbed's version is just asome Todd mcFarlane-ish pseudo comic wanna be. Genesis' version is funnier, and a bit more ironic.

Yeah, the first one had that wierd puppet+80's style feel to it. Loved Disturbed's version and the McFarlane feel of the vid. I based the design of my profile pic on the main character.
