Earlier today, I brought up the Hufu thing somewhere else and I said it was pretty nasty. The other replied if I thought that was nasty that I should see his hero's "art" It's very strange and somewhat disturbing.

I'm warning you, click... if you dare. It's WEIRD!

That wasn't really that weird, not nearly as weird as what I posted, if you read the article you would find that it was a unborn child's head grafted onto a bird's body, not to mention the child's eyes were replaced with rabbit eyeballs.

Oh, I read it. I still find the fast food picture more disturbing.

What's so weird about it? It's just Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders in magna style.

And now for a quote from Space Balls

"What's the matter Colonel Sanders, chicken?"

Naw...that's strangely funny.

The first one is definately weirder...and almost uspeakably disturbing.
...corpses are not art...combining them like that is just gross.

The fact that someone thought it up, drew it, then posted it on the internet.

It's disturbing in the same vein that the picture of the really musclar Colonel Sanders is disturbing.

Indeed, that is very disturbing, the guy who showed it to me says the man who made that "art" was his hero.

Okay, see now that's really disturbing. I tend to be disturbed more by the things people think then the stuff they actually do.

http://www.dollmeat.com/abstinance.html <----- Warning: VERY creepy. :shudder:

Note: Don't be wondering these sites, most of the artists of these works make not-safe-for-work if you get my meaning. Someone else pointed me to these links.

Eeeeewwww...

The work of a demented mind, for sure...

...but still not in the same league as doing that with the preserved corpses of actual dead babies.

...that's just so...

Why am I involved in this topic again?

At least the Fast Food one was funny.

(trust me...I've dreamed up far stranger things than buffed up fast food icons in fighting poses. ...it's not that weird.)

Eww!!! Ewww!!! Eeeewwww!!!!!

I'm all in for 'weirdness', and I usually don't get creeped out. Yet those last two pictures Hamster posted were disgusting. I know those are fake babies (or atleast they better be!), but thats just....weird.

Bah!

Yes that is a real baby's head grafted onto a real bird's corpse, that's why I finder much more disturbing than what you showed.

I'm up for sick and disturbing things as much as the next sick person but if it's real....uhh! Then that's when it crossed the line!

A lot of people start getting touchy when you start doing stuff to human bodies. I've got mixed feelings myself, but you're talking to someone who champions genetic engineering, and who's done human dissections in medical school. That will give you weird dreams.

That's completely different though, he's using dead body pats for recreational art.... that's just wrong.

I think that, if the message or intended effect behind the piece is a good enough or strong enough one, then using dead body parts in such a way is acceptable.

This is what he said about his piece:
"It's precisely because I respect all life that I did this," artist Xiao Yu said Tuesday. He said the bird and fetus "died because there was something wrong with them. ... I thought putting them together like this was a way for them to have another life."

Quite frankly, I don't think that's a good enough reason to make such a piece.

(For example, "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift dealt with a very controversial topic, that being the consumption of babies. However, he didn't just do it for no reason. By writing that story, he introduced many ideas for making the living conditions of people at the time better. In other words, he worked with controversial subject matter for the purpose of bringing about positive change.)

If an artist is trying to make some kind of positive change or make a powerful statement with their work, I think it is ok for them to use materials such as this in this way. For example, if that guy had used the fetus head in a piece that delivered a strong pro-life message, that might be acceptable. But, judging by that half-a** reason he gave, I quite frankly think that he wanted to make some kind of weird disturbing artwork and then later created a justification for it.

My verdict: thumbs down :x

As for those dollmeat things...yeah, those are pretty freaky. But, I gotta say that I kinda like 'em. Particularly "abstinence". I've never seen a more literal example of that bible verse (which was, most likely, the inspiration for the piece.)

I agree completely, I think he definately has no right to desecrate a corpse so, he bought the head from a lab for a few dollars for crying out loud!
