If anyone is wondering, I'm pretty sure they aren't the same -- their IP addresses aren't even remotely similar.

If he was simply using a different computer, the IP addresses would still be very similar as long as he was using the same ISP. But they share almost no similarities, I don't think they are even from the same region. Shadow Wulf uses Road Runner - High Speed Online (tampabay.res.rr.com), while Doppleganger uses NTI Northwest Telephone, Inc. (nw-tel.com). The first is in Florida; the second covers the opposite side of the country.

With that evidence in mind, and also keep in mind that I doubt Shadow Wulf is knowledgeable enough about such things to pull that off (I don't think he would, even so), I think it's safe to say they are different people.

I don't think Figarou would. Besides, Tejas is in Texas, isn't it?

It is Texas. Plus while those two were going at it, I was sitting at his computer messing up and fixing the forums.

Edit: VVV Spanish. IIRC it was called Tejas before the mexican revolution began.

Correct. According to this, Tejas is hardly used.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Texas
Is the spelling Tejas used by Spanish speakers in Texas? And in Mexico?

I've lived in Texas my whole life and can't remember ever seeing a spanish text with the word Tejas. I do remember a lot of English uses of it to be cute and ethnic though. Of course, I only have the amount of Spanish knowledge you're forced to have living in Texas. Let me defer to something a bit more objective: A quick Google search of "tejas" in spanish pages turns up mostly sites in .es having nothing to do with the state. A search of "tejas estado" in spanish pages gets 22,000 hits (some history articles citing Tejas as the older name) and "texas estado" 225,000, which I guess classifies Tejas as a much lesser used alternate amongst spanish websites. Doesn't answer your Texas vs. Mexico question, though. Laura Scudder 01:49, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
in Mexico, Texas is always write with x but spelled teh-hasin spanish and tec-sas in english

Because he is a moderator, and can see your IP address.

Edit: But that is really really off topic.

Just to confuse things, where an IP is registered may have nothing to do with where it's actually being used. For example 72.9.242.128 (fenrir.nonexiste.net) is registered to a datacenter in Atlanta, Georgia; the machine with that IP address, however, is sitting on my bookshelf here in Texas.

Haha

If you really want to know...

As it so happens, since I am a moderator, I can see the IP address you used to post a message. That IP address is assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). It is very, very easy to do a DNS lookup... In fact, that functionality is built right into phpBB, and I can do said lookup with a single click. It's usually fairly simple to determine who the ISP is with that information. For example, yours was ***-***.***-***.tampabay.res.rr.com (where ***-***.***-*** was your IP address, written in a rather odd way). Seeing that, I went to rr.com, which is how I found out you use road runnner.

I don't see any hacking in that...
