Poor Figarou. So old, yet act so young.

"Young at heart" would be a better way to put it. Always a good thing. I certainly don't see him stomping around calling us a bunch of "young wipper-snappers" and talking about things "in his day". When first I met him I was under the impression he was in his late twenties.

When I was ten years old I felt like a 30 year old in a childs body. Now at 25, I feel like a child in an adults body. Strange how that works.

I agree, thats true, I guess, but not a seriously big alter ego in my case. My internet self is more or less me without facial expressions, body language, vocal sound...etc. So my internet persona is a small part of me but is still me.

Sometimes people are a lot more assertive online, I know I'm less shy online but I'm still shy...took me ages to get into the swing of this site!

I believe people act as their real self here than they do outside. Atleast I do, I am free to express myself here.

I have several.

In Burning Man society the persona I project is a sincere elder stateswoman called Diane o'Thirst. It's a play on words and a moniker I adopted after suffering a fairly serious bout of dehydration on the Playa a few years ago. She's dedicated, experienced, playful, literate and a big kid when she gets out there!

Currently my werewolf persona is shifting... ...from Vrikasatma to the sagacious, no-nonsense and affable Berkana Nothing-to-Prove. I'm building a puppet of her for my Burning Man project and I'm gradually migrating over into her mindset and character. She's a kitchen witch, ruggedly independent, prone to sighing and talks like a female James Earl Jones. Humans don't freak out when they see her so she stays away from caerns, and instead of that she guards an enchanted forest. Like me, she's a trivia buff and loves movies.

Vrik' is...I don't know, rather self-centred and a little more sybaritic than I like. Nothing-to-Prove is something of a sensualist but she's wise enough to temper it with some dignity; she's a choose-your-battles type. Vrik's more aggressive and cocky.

And then there's a mostly-unnamed, burgeoning persona that I'm adopting around the horse. Cynical equestrians maintain that it's unnatural for horses to tolerate an obvious predator such as a human rider, so I've tapped into the zeitgeist and took on a Black Wolf persona that I slip into when I want to establish and maintain my Alpha position. This one's not very developed, like Vrik' and N-t-P, and she doesn't come up unless the horse gives me backtalk while I'm handling him. She doesn't have a backstory; she's almost more like a primal archetype. She talks rarely, and most of her communication is gestures, non-verbal sounds and posturing.

I agree; I like to express my true self and on other forum. Outside, I'm really shy and I have trouble expressing who I am.

I know what you mean. But I still only show a part of me online. If you could see the way I dress....feathers and leather jacket and music shirt and jeans, and sometimes a hat, I look like I stepped out of the 80's. But then again I'm far more gentle than my appearance looks.

But on the other hand you can definately be a little more assured if you're not able to show certain quirks in public. For me, that would be the therianthropy thing. I don't discuss it too often...I'm not a big fan of the wolf sometimes, 'she' is an irritation...but I can be a bit more free on here to talk about that.

Otherwise, I find it really funny to dress up really odd for parties ... once I was supposed to be dressing up as Kirk (Some rockstar party), but I had a wolf mask and a tail because me and Andy (Dimebag costume he had was so funny) were drunk out of our minds anyway. People talked about it apparently for a while. -Chokes back laughter- haha
