persay we could have a Strict debate section.

then if a debate started in any other part of the forumn the mods could just move it, therefore anyone would have good forwarning that there is a debate in the thread.

just a thought....
Then we'd have to move like, 35% of the forum. Yuck. :P

I was just trying to offer a suggestion, I just thought that if people KNEW that there was a debate (even if we had a little icon that would WARN people that there was a possibly offensive debate in the thread. Im not preposing moving the forumn, I was preposing a place where people could debate and people that did not want to preticipate would know.

Really, we disagree in paragraphs more than we debate. Debating means you have to get dressed and be logical. Yuck...

OK, listen up Pack members. This has to stop. I haven't addressed this much before due to how delicate this subject is, but the debates lately are going nowhere. I expressed concerns earlier about what I see as real life problems once, and got my head bit off as the intent was apparently mistaken as an attacking opposition. I never EVER address anyone directly. I address the problem, concern, or subject matter itself. I speak of these problems of haveing a purpose of existing and being seemingly logical to some people, rather than pass it off as "moronic" or "ignorant", and use facts more than opinions on a 5:1 scale. Dispite my own posting ideals that I have followed to the letter, I somehow manage to have people write angry replies. I want to know what the hell is causing it. This is uncalled for. Why can't anyone make a post of concern without extremely radical responses that insult the individual?

Forum goes must understand that what others post is often out of genuine concern for their well-being, and not to cause them to feel like they are under attack. I am sure you all know this, but do any of us have to be reminded? I love you guys, and it hurts to see that my concern for you is shut down so harshly. Why?

I need to know how to improve upon this recently rising problem of hostile debates and arguments. I am apparently blind to what is causing it to happen so frequently lately. I want feedback on this from the rest of The Pack, not just the moderators and admins.

I'm still waiting for that chardonney shower. -_-

Very big of you to abuse your mod power to post in a locked thread just to get the last word.

Hmmm...this is what this thread is for an this has been discussed previously in this thread I made an another..The reason I made this thread was for all of what u have just said an obviously it's not working at all for niether mods or the rest of the Pack..I guess time will tell how long the Pack actually will last because quite frankly the Pack is dying to me..

It's just like any other idiotic group on the internet. The spirit of the Pack has long since departed.

I didn't know it was locked. Deleted it. As it is, I wont be expressing myself as much as I have. I suppose I'm worrying about others more that I should. Sorry if anything I said came across as hurtful. I didn't mean for it to sound that way. I love you guys SOOO much. I just hate to think that anything bad could happen to a single one of you.

Oh yeah, caring for someone is a great reason to be insulting.

Personally I haven't seen anything insulting here. I mean, like I said before, I've seen flame wars escalate all the way up to death threats. I've received multiple personal e-mail flames that stretched out to 10K (massive for e-mail) and threw pretty much everything at me: genetic heritage questioning, deeply personal villification, twisting my own words to burn me (one guy tried to paint me as a prime candidate for exile from this country), obscenities, threat of legal proceedings, snide smackdowns, you name it. There are some vicious people on the 'Net. There's nothing of that ilk here and we have some threads on this board that would be a playground for flamers elsewhere.

Just adding a bit of perspective. BTW, Mods, thanks for the banning of obscenities. It can occasionally be annoying but it's nice to have a haven on the 'Net where I know nobody's going to cuss me out.

OK, maybe this thread should be locked....it seems to be creating arguements, which by its name is not its purpose.

So, in conclusion!

EVERYONE STOP ARGUING OR ELSE!!!

I think that is what Joker is trying to say. :|

I thought long and hard about this, and came to a conclusion. The majority of Pack members can recognize when a discusion is going in the wrong direction, so why be afraid to say so? Anyone in a discussion that feels offended, or that it is unnessesary negetivity, should say so and ask for it to stop on their own behalf. Many people can save face by throwing away their pride breifly to ask for the discussion to stop. It's not that hard, and can help avoid too many downhill debates. I encourage everyone to say when they are offended by a post, but please please PLEASE, when doing so... be as respectful as possible.

If we all can do this, or at least most of us, we as a group wont be afraid to all say something about it at the time the posts of negetivity occur.

We are human; we will argue.
If it is pointed out that an argument is starting, that ought to be enough to stop it.
If it turns into a flame session, then let the moderators deal with it: that's their job.
If there are a few people who would rather argue than contribute; well there are ways to deal with that, as well. Pointing and snickering works.
We are human; we will always argue--that we aren't arguing!

We can also agree to keep arguments civil. Only doofs need descend to "u r teh suck, u idiot lol."

Indeed. But even respectful posts can be misread. Within this problem is in how responses are presented. Always cite reasons for your responses, and not just... "it's stupid". If someone told me "That artwork is stupid", I would want to know why so I can make improvements. Although using a less antagonistic word other than "stupid" would be a good idea too.

Hmmm...its always been my opinion that a debate is where two or more people gather to not listen to each other as they list dozens of psychotic and impractical opinions interspersed with over-simplified facts that have been twisted to suit their individual needs. Heh. Politics. :D

Never been in a flame war. Been close to them on other forums, but I tend to be too OCD about everything to get involved in something as ridiculous as seriously arguing with someone online. Heck, knowing the nature of the internet, I could very well be the only human person here. You lot could be robots with advanced AIs or real Werewolves out to get me or the men in white coats here to take me away. I try take nothing I find online seriously. You should try it. Flame wars happen a lot less often when you're busy giggling at the possibilities.
