i say werewolf
How far apart do they start from each other?
Is there cover (trees, walls, rocks, etc.) for the werewolf to dodge behind?
How good of a shot is the gun toting human?
Is this the kind of werewolf that does not even flinch when a small hole is punched clean through it's body, or is being shot full of holes actually, realisticly crippling?
Does the Human know the werewolf is after him, or does the Werewolf have an opportunity to take the human completely by suprise?
...etc. etc. ...
I'd say, if the human has that much firepower, and he knows how to use it, then the werewolf is going to become shedded beef unless it can sneak up on the human (somehow) without beeing seen.

The werewolves agility would be a big factor to me. Even if a human has big guns, it does not mean it can kill the werewolf because the werewolf could be just as smart and fast. Also if the Werewolf has it's human intellect and is not a blod thirsty blood machine then it can easily out smart a human who thinks he's bad a** because of a machine and that's the problem with man anyways, he thinks he has all that power and they don't so I of course say

...I am reminded of that classic scene from Indiana Jones.
The fast, agile guy with the sharp, slicing weapons thought he was all cool, untill...
*BANG*
Being superior in "close-range" combat is useless if you cant even get CLOSE.
Maybe if the human was so stupidly cocky that he just stood there laughing with his machine guns pointed into the air, then the werewolf could rush in and gut him before he could load them and fire.
However, if the human had even a shred of common sense and skill, he would surely keep his sights squarely on the werewolf, and especially if he was armed with a Fully-Automatic Machine-Gun, I just don't see how the werewolf could possibly avoid becomming Swiss-Cheese in a one on one face off.
...now, if it was a chaotic wartime environment, and the humans focus was divided, then I could definately see how a werewolf could slip up on the guy and bite his head off before he knew what hit him.
Again...it depends on many factors....but I think dodging bullets is a bit too much to expect...even from a mythological creature.

Mmm.... depends on the circumstances, and your definition of "A ton of fire power."
If your definition is, a shotgun, and werewolves are resistent to non-silver damage, then the werewolf can probably pull out a win in most situations.
However if the werewolf's not resistent to non-silver, and the human has.... oh..... a Stealth Bomber complete with nukes and there's a GPS tracker on the Werewolf.... then... the Werewolf doesn't stand a chance.
So, yeah, depends on the specifics.

Well, IMO (thusly, using my opinions on werewolves ;) ), If theres reasonable cover the Werewolf might get close enough to kill the Human.
Of course, if the human has a full-auto weapon, or say, a Shotgun, chances dramatically decrease. MAchine gun puts out too much to even *think* of getting out of the way in time, and shotgun, well wide dispersal area and high power close range. Easy way to lose a head.

Uuumm uzis can shoot faster than the M16. But I have to say to make it fair the werewolf has to have cover.
Lets put it in the deep part of the woods there plenty of cover and the werewolf can hide in trees and remian unseesn:Ok FIGHT!!!
HUMAN: A human has sight of a werewolf a 20 yards away and starts shooting his machine gun, but if he fires at full auto then that will decrease the accuracy so he will likely to miss.
WEREWOLF: werewolf see the human locking on to him and takes cover behund a tree. He realize that confronting him from the front means death. So he climbs up a tree slowly and remained unseesn.
HUMAN: Lets be realistic. A human can only carry so much ammo at time and still be quick on his feet at the same time, so hes not gonna randomly shoot everywhere. The human checks where he last saw the werewolf and realize that hes nowhere nearby. He sees scrathes on the trees leading to the top. Oh Oh!! he knows he up on the tree tops and he pay close atention up there however.
WEREWOLF ENDING: Werewolf has the bigger advantage now cause the leafs and branches keeps him invisible and the human cant fight what he cant see. Plus he could use this as a destraction......The human thinks hes in the tree top when the werewolf is already back on the ground. the werewolf can easily sneak up on the human and trust his teeth into the humans troat.

If it's Arnold, as you say, my vote definitely goes for the werewolf. Arnold couldn't tag a beached whale at point-blank, and even if he couldn't, he wouldn't -- the trigger might scrape his perfectly manicured fingernails (check out any of his films and look closely; that guy has no right to call himself a macho man). His battle strategy would be to accuse the werewolf of not following the script and demand that he be fired or threaten to walk.
If it's a human with actual training on the other hand, I'd say it's a fairly decent match-up.

Nothing (as far as I know) can dodge bullets. However, one can dodge another person's aim. Have you ever tried to shoot a moving target? It's really, really hard to even keep up with the moving figure to be able to actually get the bullet to end up where the creature will be. I don't think the werewolf would be standing still, so hitting it with a bullet would still be pretty hard.
To address the issue:
We once had a wrottweiler that attacked (and nearly killed) one of our other dogs. We don't tolerate vicious animals, so my dad shot her. It took 8 bullets to even slow her down. She finally died after a few minutes, but at first the bullets had almost no effect. I think if a dog can react this way to bullets, a werewolf can too. A few bullets to the body doesn't equal death.
I'm not saying I'm I believe the werewolf would win. But, we can't simply write them off because the human has a bunch of guns. I think a lot of it depends on the individual werewolf and human involved.

It's one thing to try to hit a target like a sniper, firing one shot at a time. If the human had only a hunting rifle, or a hand gun, the werwolves chances would increase a little, as it would be hard to hit a target dodging back and forth. (but far from impossible. if it was that easy to avoid being shot, alot more people would be alive today)
However, if we are talking "MACHINE GUNS" with clips of 80 - 800 shots, (UZIs do fire quite fast. Thier small size does not make them any less lethal...only easier to lug around and aim quickly...which may actually put the werewolf at an even greater disadvantage.), then it is really irrelivant that the weapons do not fire perfectly straight. If only 15 out of 50 bullets fired hit thier target, that is still 15 blood oozing wounds (and punctured organs...chipped or shattered bones...etc.) which, adrenaline or not, even if you don't feel the pain, if some of your muscle fibers have been cut through, you can't move right any more. ...If all your adrenaline satruated blood is oozing onto your feet instead of pumping to your muscles, it won't help.
I say, this scenario is NOT a fair match up.
...now, a big-strong, trained Human soldier, armed with standard issue "grunt" body armor, a machette, and a high-calibur, semi-automatic (meaning, it fires as fast as you can pull the trigger) Hand-Gun... VS. a Werewolf.
...now that would be an interesting match up. I could easily see that going either way.

Okay, a werewolf with resistence to non-silver damage against a normal human at night is probably gonna win no matter the situation.
Even if said human is a commando, or a martial artist, they still stand a great chance of winning due to the psychology of the situation. When confronted with an impossible creature such as a werewolf, most people will simply panic and forget much of thier survival skills.
However, take away the psychological advantage and it becomes a much more interesting matchup. Granted though, with resistence to non silver damage a human is going to need to be well prepared in order to really do a lot of damage.

Yes but thats why the werewolf must use stealth to its advantage. firing a gun that shoots 600 bullets per minute isnt going to do alot if he doesnt know where the target is.

Human.
If its one werewolf with nothing on him, yet the human has a butt-load of gear on him for killing. Certainly, human is going to kill. If I had a gun and it was life or death, I could easily kill the thing.
Though there is the circumstances. I've only used airsoft guns, I've never shot a being. Though if I had to, I know I could. Though it would take a neak attack on the werewolf, I might be able to aim. If the werewolf knew I was there he could easily attack me (I think of werewolves being capable of doing what a really pissed police dog could do, plus they are bigger.) and if I could react, I could shot that thing. Depnds on how I react, if I can, hes shot, I win, or atleast it'll be very wounded.
Stick a 6 year old in there? Werewolf.
And Old person in there? Depends, though I can't see my Grandpa running much, I can see him shooting. My grandma? Oh, she'll be dead, the werewolf wouldn't stand her talking.
Werewolf puppy? Depends on how soft hearted the human is.
Army guy and werewolf? Certainly, the army dude is going to win. No fight there.
So I'm guessing when were talking about this I imagine a grown up human, and a grown werewolf. Both in the park, both know they are there and know what they're doing. Also that both don't care of the other dieing, someone like me may not like to kill someone like that. The person may not have much training on gun besides when playing 'House of the dead', yet I think the human could kick arse. I can aim, I bet they can. If the werewolf sees them and is runnign strait the human, it would suck for that human to have a werewolf on top of them. Yet you see if the werewolf has his jaws over the person's waist the person could hopefully grab the gun and shoot him right there in the head, bye bye werewolf. The human may be able to just shoot the werewolf in the torso or extremities. And who says the werewolf could just shred someone to peices?
Human. If I had to bet money I'd think the human would walk out, if not with some serious injuries. Etheir way, if one does manage to get out, they're going to come out really hurt. Though if hes a buff guy, with machine guns, human is sooooo going to win. There no fight there.

I don't get the silver thing.WolvenOne wrote:Okay, a werewolf with resistence to non-silver damage against a normal human at night is probably gonna win no matter the situation.
The majority of any creatures "flesh" is muscle fiber. Every time a body is punctured, muscle fibers are severed, thus temporarily hindering it's mobility.
Having some sort of alergic reaction to the projectiles or not would have little impact on this. (Unless miraculaously a werwolf can heal such wounds in mere SECONDS...which is an abusurd notion, if you ask me.) So...even if the werewolf insisted on contunuing to move forward after ever shot, unphased, thier agility would decrease with every hole that is punched in them, making them even easier targets. Plus...a sensible shot would be aiming for the head, heart or joints. A werewolf cant move too fast if it happens to take a shot in the kneecap, and a headshot will end the match instantly.
...I'm sure some of you are thinking about how a hunter can fire multiple bullets into a bear and hardly slow it down...but in those situations, the hunter is using a low-calibur rifle that is only intended to be able to kill small deer and, possilbly, birds. Those bullets don't even fully puncture the creatures body, but merely lodge themselves into the fat and muscle tissues, painfully, but uncripplingly. (Likely to make the poor animal suffer and die slowly from infection later on.)
If the human is equipped with High-calibur weapons, with the power to puncture elephant hides, or body armor, it is not the kind of thing you can just shrug off. Even if you don't feel the pain, if a heavy projectile punches a hole clear through your body and out the other side, possilbly blowing chunks of your internal organs and chips of your bones out the hole in your back as it passes through, you will not be able to just keep charging forward as if nothing happened.
...once again...it totally depends on the specifics.
If the match up took place in a very thick, dark, wooded aria filled with large old trees thick enough to stop/deflect/slow-down even armor piercing bullets, and the trees were so tight nit that there were absolutely no clear shots in any dirrection, then such weaponry as a machine gun would be of little use. ...grenades...parilizing, toxic smoke bombs...and skill with a long, military issue machette would be more helpful.
In such a scenario where long range weaponry becomes nearly useless, and close range combat is forced, then the advantage definatley goes to the stronger, faster guy with the most ways to cut up the other. (...werewolf...)

An underestimation of werewolfs I presumed, you guys are giving humans to much credit. Why even our seals have been injured badly and had to retreat from regualr civilians in top secret ops. I personaly think a werewolf has equaly as much chance to kill a human as human would kill a werewolf, depending on the surroundings. Did anyone seen jurassic park where the hunter with the shotgun placed his hat on the log and aimed at a raptor but one sneaked up on him towards the side. What happen? He was lunch meat! A werewolf have much higher sense than a human so a human have very little chance to sneak up on it, I wouldnt make sneaking an option. Long range attacks would best suit it, but a human would easily kill a werewolf if they were in the open field, if its in a forest or a jungle then the human chances of winning are slim if he loses sight of the werewolf which will more likely to be snese a werewolf can use its claws to climb trees and hide on treetops. As I said before if you cant see what your shooting, then your rendered helpless. And outwarddoodle, have you fired a gun before? Cause shooting a moving target is very hard unless you have a scope. And sense werewolf moves alot faster than a regular target, then you have to estimate where to aim infron of the werewolf.

No, if you read my post I mention that in there I have never fired a real gun. The only experaince I have is with deer shooting games in the arcade (which I've become amazingly good, you have ta see me.), airsoft guns, and a really weak gun (well, the thing did break a window.). Etheir I'm good at learning how to shoot, or shooting wasn't that hard. I love to hit targets, moving ones too. Yet my experaince in shooting moving things would be the deer shooting game I play, which I've gotten good at. Yet working witht he weaker guns I have, I'd say someone like me could shoot a big werewolf if needed. And outwarddoodle, have you fired a gun before? Cause shooting a moving target is very hard unless you have a scope. And sense werewolf moves alot faster than a regular target, then you have to estimate where to aim infron of the werewolf.
No, I think your underestimating humans. And over powering something that is already of myth. So because this is a 'it depends' question here, I'm guessing when poeple are talking about this we are refering to 'the Freeborn werewolf'.An underestimation of werewolfs I presumed, you guys are giving humans to much credit.
1) Werewolves are not dinosaurs.Did anyone seen jurassic park where the hunter with the shotgun placed his hat on the log and aimed at a raptor but one sneaked up on him towards the side.
2) This is a one on-one-thing.
Deer have better senses than us and we manage to sneak up on them.A werewolf have much higher sense than a human so a human have very little chance to sneak up on it, I wouldnt make sneaking an option.
IMHO a werewolf could only climb trees as good as a human.a werewolf can use its claws to climb trees and hide on treetops
And wolves have worse sight than us.As I said before if you cant see what your shooting, then your rendered helpless.
Ever shot a deer that was running? Deer can praticly FLY when they're running, and some hunters still manage to bring down those things. And sense werewolf moves alot faster than a regular target, then you have to estimate where to aim infron of the werewolf.
You are underestimating human power, especially when the human is big and buff and have machine guns. Theres no battle with that kind of gear! Not to mention, compare the average success in hunting for wolves compared to humans.

Thats if that animal is preoccupied.
Here, take a look at this video. A hunter manages to sneak up on a wild boar and kick it in the arse!!

first, why are you reffering everything to freeborn werewolves when no one has ever said that, Im pretty shure we are reffuring to werewolfs overall.
Second, werewolve are not dinosaurs, I agree with that, but I bet there just as sneaky sense a wolf you can barely hear them walk as it is.
Third, Wolves can see in the dark better than we can, and they can smell better than we can and they can hear better than we can. I was reffering if these 2 knew they were fighting agients each other.
Fourth, the whole one on one thing you were saying. If you think a werewolf can use a decoy of some kindto trick the hunter, and plus in the movie everything was so quite, why didnt the hunter hear the raptor sneaking up on him. I know its just a movie but its very accurate on how they did everything if you ask me.
Fifth, with as big as claws as they have, they should climb like a cat, and plus thier stronger so they can pull thier weight more and having claws makes it easier rather than your palm hands. Go ahead, try climbing the trunk of a tree with your bare hands.
Sixth, coampering the rate of of average success of killing wolves compare to humans, This is irrational, we are talking a half human crature that has the mind of a man. for the werewolf Its alot easier sneaking up on a person and killing them than confronting them straight up. With a buff guy with all that gear, hes going to be making alot of noise, as a werewolf would have nothing on him. The human haves to be lightly armed to sneak more quietly and move quicker. haveing a flak jacket weighs about 15 pounds, the extra ammo, the machine guns the grenades, its all adds weight and will make alot of sound for the werewolf.
