Greatest Guitar Solos
We should have a thread dedicated to all of the great guitar solos out there
If you think a guitar solo is exceptional (any genre will work), just post a reply with a YouTube link to it and title it with the name of the song and the name of the band
e.g.:
http://www.youtube.com
"Song Name" by Band Name

We had a member of the forums from way back who named herself Kirk Hammett. She would've loved this.

Tobin Abasi (Animals as Leaders) is probably the best guitarist alive today.

Re: Greatest Guitar Solos
Thanks for making my quotes a signature tag, Morkulv!
Of guitar solos over the years, I'd still have to give it to Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page for "Dazed and Confused," the full length movie version from The Song Remains the Same. Led Zeppelin took a six or seven minute song and stretched it out over thirty minutes, but kept it interesting the whole time. Add that the piece effectively pioneered the violin bow on guitar effect later reprised by Whitesnake ("Still of the Night"), Bauhaus ("Hollow Hills"), and even Cirque du Soleil (Quidam), and this is the stuff of rock legends.

Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

Whenever I'm on a Springsteen kick, this is always a favorite. A couple of simple, yet very fitting solos in this one. Excellent saxophone and organ in there as well.

The three great essentials to achieving anything worthwhile are; first, hard work, second, stick-to-it-iveness, and third, common sense.

Re: Greatest Guitar Solos
This may not technically be a solo, but Spanish guitar duets like this just can't be looked over
