Which I have learned because somtimes I get REALLY bored.
The secret to making the boxed meals taste good is to cook them "By the Book" only once to get a taste for the ingredients and then ignore the directions from that point forward and use whatever portions taste the best to you.
3 tbsp margarine = 4 tbsp BUTTER
...replace Skim milk with WHOLE...
Got any extra Cheese on hand? ...use it. (Velveeta is good...most block cheeses are hard to melt just right....in a pinch, I've found that slices of boring "American" cheese melts just right and blends well with the powdered stuff)
Add a bit of salt for flavor.
Spice to taste if you like it HOT.
Extra Ingredients can make a WORLD of difference (Meat, Veggies...herbs and spices...)
Any meal is only as good as you choose to make it. ...even PB&J can be a "Delicacy"...
Don't laugh until you've tried my Teriyaki marinated, fried Spam in drained Ramen with canned green beans...Trust me...it tastes a lot better than it sounds.

Little crazy hint: Try a small amount of Mustard *(like 1/2 tsp) in with the Cheese sauce. You don't really taste it, but it sure makes the Cheese cheesier.
*Either Dry Powdered-scant 1/2 tsp or Yellow plain mustard-slightly rounded 1/2 tsp.

I love Macaroni and Cheese!! Also cheese sauce:
One tb spoon margarine
One tablespoon of flour
One and a quarter cups milk
Cup of cheese
Melt the margarine and mix in the flour to a paste. Actually I always add more than the amount. It's gotta be a sort of paste. Then mix in the milk, get the lumps out and boil. Then add cheese and melt in the milk...should be thick.
Could use with broccoli and cauliflower...pour on and cook in oven with cheese on top to brown. Also in potato cut up and pre cooked. And pasta, eg macaroni but might want mustard.
In macaroni, its nice to add some broccoli and stuff. Some people add celery and onion.
Oh and pepper! And if you like, salt!

Re: macaroni and friggin cheese....
The key is to put in real butter. If you don't, it looses the cheezy taste. I also like leaving the noodles a little uncooked so it doesn't feel like someone put gum in it or something.
I'm working on a werewolf novel, while liking to stay up late at night and going to college. I'm going to be sleep-deprived when this is all said and done.
Anthony Brownrigg, I hope you have the best of luck with Freeborn. RedEye, I also wish you the best of luck with Wulfen Blood. And for a bit of luck for both of you...
