Try and track down an album called History of a Time to Come, by SABBAT.
Theyre a pagan thrash metal band that were around in the early nineties. They also did a concept album called Dreamweaver, which was based on a book called Way of the Wyrd or The Way of Wyrd. I'm not sure which way around it is. Either way, it tells the story of a pagan healer/apprentice and if I remember right, involves a bit of shifting and gender changing too. (Nothing smutty, purely magical/mystical).
The Dreamweaver album is a tad slower and not as extreme but both albums are AWESOME.

Well be, thy one. And wisdom too. And grew, and joyed in my growth. From a word to a word, I was led to a word. From a deed...to another deed.

I know they've just toured in England, (Can't remember who they were supporting) which I was surprised of as I heard they split in the mid 90's.
You may put them in another category of metal, I get lost in all the genre's and sub genre's now. Back in the 80's/90's it was all a bit easier.... I mean, Napalm Death, Metallica, Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies were all just...Thrash Metal.

Someone used my evil dragon wolf! -Cries with joy-
I'm fairly fussy with metal, I don't like nu metal much, some of it's I guess okay but I get bored fast with music.
For me, (I like almost every genre if it's roots are in real music, not copied, raped or fake rubbish) I like songs with different rhythm pieces, not the same riff or two riffs in a song. I like solos, interludes, etc because it makes the song different and interesting rather than monotonous. Nu metal unfortunately can be annoying. Not all though.
I'm also, as Morkulv knows, not good at genres.
Nice CD cover anyway! What are the vocals like? I can ignore the vocals (I don't think they are talentless, of course they're talented...I can't even sing to save my life! It's not my thing is all) and listen to the music and melodies, I like melodic stuff, nice sounding, but with aggression and power, emotion etc. If its any of those, Ill give it a go, vocals or not!!

According to Metal-archives.com, they toured with Cradle of Filth.lupine wrote:I know they've just toured in England, (Can't remember who they were supporting) which I was surprised of as I heard they split in the mid 90's.

The vocals are mainly just black metal-screams, but the song I mentioned DOES contain clean-singing. And furthermore it is very melodic and symphonic, yet a bit raw. Just check it out at the site I gave (blackmetalradio.com), and you'll find out. I know I was very convinced with NM.Kirk Hammett wrote: Nice CD cover anyway! What are the vocals like? Ill check it out tomorrow, because I have to flee to my bed. I've got some jamming to do (writing some serious music!). I like clean singing a lot; I will definately check this band out.Morkulv wrote:The vocals are mainly just black metal-screams, but the song I mentioned DOES contain clean-singing. Just posting a couple of links to SABBAT stuff
http://hem.bredband.net/b306090/#.htm
http://www.bnrmetal.com/groups/sabb.htm
This next one will let you preview the albums. I know that History of a Time to Come works. Can't comment on the other albums.

This site has changed. Some of the topics in different spots. I've been drinking, but not heavily enough not to notice!
As I said, I can ignore vocals
Thanks for the links. I ate so much pizza I think I need to go to bed. I always get tired after I eat!

I've actually had people talk to me who go "Huh? How can it be 7pm there? It's 6am here!"
I'm like, I live across the other side of the world. Not everyone lives in your country. They get all excited. Wow, an Australian!

Re: Metal-topic
Guess what came into the mail saturday!!Morkulv wrote: Anyway, today I've ordered Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry. Cover-art:
I love this CD!! Everything about it is done good! The vocals are agressive, yet at some points on the CD clean, and at other points some whispers to create a mysterious atmosphere. By those things, you might think that Lunar Poetry is nothing special in the genre, but the compositions are amazing, and filled with symphonic passages and guitar-solo's. The only 'negative' thing about this production is that there is some slight tape-noise on the background (Lunar Poetry is a re-release from a demo-tape), and a drum-computer. But the drum-computer is very well sounding and programmed realistic. You barely notice it.
Everyone into melodic/symphonic should have this CD in his/her collection. Period!

Hmmm... I like the instrumental, but I can never get into scream-singing. I prefer the singing I listen to to be more... Melodic. Like Iron Maiden and Sonata Arctica (relatively unknown Finnish band, here's a song if you've never heard them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNOgjyQC6Qg <-- My personal favorite).

Oh and another thing:
I'd rather have people and musicians put they'r hate and believes into good music then physically fighting it off on the streets and kill people.
