Eragon the movie

Post by Okamiotoko »

Apperently, they have started a movie slated for release in December based on the best selling books by Christopher Paolini.

Official Movie site:
http://www.eragonmovie.com/

The book was quite good, and hopefully (despite the usual trend of screwing up books to movie ideas :( ) they will do a good job.

The Dragon (Saphira) is being voiced by Rachel Weisz

And Edward Speelers was a brilliant choice for Eragon

My mother's always getting on my case over Eragon, because the person who wrote it is fairly young. "See now, that could be you."

Just her way of telling me I'm a lazy bum. :P

I love the book as well, even if theres gotta be some differences but thats ok.

Didn't like the book too much. Too similar to Lord of the Rings with watered-down writing. It just didn't feel original, and the foreshadowing was way too obvious.

So, let us ponder for a while about that film...

IT SUCKS!

She didn't talk in the book, Eragon and Saphira had a telekinetic link so they spoke to each other that way.

I have no problems with the original Eragon, and look forward to seeing the movie. HOWEVER, Eldest cuts and pastes many catch phrases and body elements from other works (Dune and Babylon 5 to mention just 2)

Well, the first one stole a lot from Lord of the Rings. And then there was the fact that the writing itself was kind of poor, and that Paolini didn't seem to realize that foreshadowing doesn't have to tell you EXACTLY what was going to happen.

To be honest, I didn't like the book, and the movie looks like it uses a lot from the book, with a think layer of cheesiness.

I did like that in Eragon his main character had flaws human flaws, he was not muscular he lied he was human, but in the end of the first book and second book, He takes that away he takes away the relation between the character and the reader! That in my oppinion is killing the books meaning.

BASH AHEAD! :(

I've never read the book and even I could tell that...

The movie was poor.

I saw it last night. I could make a better sound track (And I haven't got bloody orchestra experience), it was a Lord of the Rings copy (I doubt the book intended that, I think the film makers did), the script sucked beyond belief, they destroyed the book, they ruined Murtaug (I forgot how to spell his name) according to my friend, the dragon's voice sucked, the characterisation was poor, some of the acting sucked...it was corny...the fire scene was corny...

The list could really go on. All in all, some of it was beautifully done, (graphics wise) but yuck to the rest. I would like to read the book, seeing as it's for adults and kids alike, but the film was for kids in my opinion.
