It's the first and largest Anime convention in North America.
Silver, the screenplay writer for Freeborn, is one of the high ranking staff members under president and founder Meri Davis, and as such she and her husband, our resident celebrity Anthony Brownrigg, appear there annually and get to make a big splash. Last year, Red Victoria premiered there, and was even finished there on the spur of the moment, on the spot, when a scene turned up missing. Brownrigg and Silver (who technically is also Brownrigg, since the two are married) have a booth station for Cashel Entertainment, where they show off among other things the Freeborn teaser. The year before, it premiered there at their station around the same time as it first appeared online. Their station also has been a central meeting point for Pack members. Figarou lived there. I think he still owes the Brownriggs some rent.
I remember first going to A-Kon back in 1993, when it had about 500 people attending. Now it's got over 10,000 registered attendees and occupies the largest hotel and convention center in Texas, a state known for bigness. It's a huge production, and it's a lot of fun.

Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

I had to pester her for about two weeks, but after that, lines of communication were pretty good. Try sending a note via DeviantArt. Here's her site:

Word of warning: be ready to spend money. She's a Cadillac of the fursuiting world, and she's priced accordingly.

PariahPoet? Care to join in?
You..in a werewolf costume? WHOA!!!
More duckies, I will bring!!!
I'm soooooo going to toss them at you!!!
Sure wish I didn't sweat so much. I'd be wearing a custom made "Figarou" costume myself. (Gotta have it made 1st.)
I was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt and STILL managed to work up a sweat in an air conditioned building!!! There is to much going on and lots to see there. Its possible I can get heat stroke if I wore a costume there.

Yeah, I learned the fun way that the nice people bring you water when you colapse on their floor!Figarou wrote:No need to bring water because they provide plenty of it. And I DO exercise. So does my brother. He lifts weights and works up a big sweat.Lukas wrote:exercise is the key word
or bring 20 tons of water
Here's the sad news. I'm not sure if I'm going next year or not. I WANT to. But last year was nearly a total fiasco as I almost got fired for my antics to get five days off in a row. (One to many late days, so I was a hair away from termination.) I fear that I might end up with a costly plane ticket, and get stuck at work. Total waste. Until I'm sure that I can get the time off next year, I'm not buying the A-Kon 18 admission ticket. *sigh*
My plans are to have two more Halo props finished, and have me and two buddies dress up like marines. Easy and comfortable costume, with a detailed prop. Nice combo. Even if I don't attend, I'll still finish those props.

Lurking softly, reading your posts, loving your ideas...
