Werewolves were not referred to as "Lycans" until Underworld came out.

Wolf attacks are rare, but that doesn't mean they don't happen. They're almost unheard of in North America, but they're far more common in Asia. Is The Grey's depiction unfair or unrealistic? I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility.
