What would be the most likely sensation that accompanies the growth of fur during the transformation? Also, since wolves have three layers of the stuff, how would it develop; all at once or a steady build up of down, then awn hairs, followed by guard hairs?

I'd always pictured claws as forming from the actual bone and pushing the nail out, not splitting it as shown in a lot of movies.
